The first official season of Gears of War has ended in CAL with a new team on top. Team LGD Black has beaten all opposition to come out as the champions in this hectic field of amazing teams.
Defeating No Name Noobs in four maps to three, they are now the number one team in CAL come season two and have taken $1,800.00 from the prize pot. With MLG Dallas and WSVG Dallas coming very soon, this can be very helpful for the team to travel. Not only that, but this can surely have sponsors flock to them to cover anything else they need.
Not to leave out team N3, they walk away with over $1,200.00 which is still a very nice sum. This team surely to show up at WSVG Dallas and/or MLG Dallas, we can expect this team to tune their game even tighter in order to come out on top.

Hint: Fighting the Wretches Gears of War
When fighting wretches--the small, shrieking enemies that don't use weapons--attack with melee strikes. The best melee strikes come from weapons other than your grenades and Lancer chainsaw rifle. The chainsaw attack is too slow to combat the swarming wretches, so stick to quick-hit melee punches for instant kills.
Hint - How To Defeat General Raam Gears of War
In order to defeat Raam, you need to have grenades and a sniper rifle which is supplied in the center of the room before entering the boss arena.
after entering the arena, stay behind the wall you ended the cut scene with. This is important because you need to maintain your distance from Raam. Also, it helps to command Don to "cease fire." This will make him run back towards you keeping him alive longer to distract Raam.
The trick is to get Raam's swarm away from his body. In order to do this, you need to throw a grenade at Raam. If successful, the swarm will disperse giving you clear head shots using the sniper rifle. Repeat until he’s defeated.
If you run out of grenades or simply cannot aim them, just stay in the lighted areas of floor to avoid the Kryll swarm.
If you don't defeat Raam by the time he reaches your wall cover, move in the opposite direction he does and shoot when the swarm disperses. You will take damage from Raam’s machine gun, but you stay in the light which prevents the swarm from killing you.

Mark Rein from Epic Games
Any rumors about an E3 announcement involving Gears of War 2 can now be silenced. Mark Rein from Epic Games said, "We are not announcing a sequel to Gears of War at E3 this year", leaving no room for doubt. He went on to mention that they were still committed to proving updates for the original. See the full statement below.

Gears of War
Fans of shooters should also flock to the Xbox 360, where “Gears of War” has emerged as the current flagship title and “Halo 3” will likely soar to the same level of popularity when it is released Sept. 25. Players will also enjoy the opportunity to firefight with friends or cross-country foes via Xbox Live, the most sophisticated of the consoles' online services by virtue of its skill ranking systems and sheer network size.
While the cheaper Xbox 360 ($300 for the Core System; $480 for the Elite System) may seem to make a better choice than the $600 PlayStation 3, there is a heightened risk in hanging your hat on the Microsoft console. Some consumer Web sites estimate the system's failure rate to reach as high as 30 percent, while Microsoft claims the figure to fall within the industry standard of 4 to 6 percent.Gamers forum

multiplayer gears of war
1000 Gamerpoints for Gears of War not enough for you? Well, you'll be pleased to hear that Microsoft and Epic have released a free update this morning which adds a further 250 of them, as well as fixing a few other bugs for the game.
The Achievements reward hard work in Annex multiplayer gametype added earlier this year, as well as the downloadable maps which are currently available for 400 MS Points (and will be free in September). And we mean hard work. For example, one asks you to "Complete 100 multiplayer matches of 3+ rounds in Annex and capture 3 objectives in each match" while another wants you to "Win 20 multiplayer matches of 3+ rounds in any game type on the Bullet Marsh multiplayer map".Well this is fine but gamers like me get killed to much to get any points.

Gears of War update
Gears of War will receive an update on June 14th (2 a.m. PDT/ 5 a.m. EDT) opening up 250 more achievement points for the "Annex" game type (which is available for free). The "Hidden Fronts" map pack is also available on the LIVE Marketplace, costing 800 points until Sept. 3rd, when it will become free.
Tired of players roadie running up to you just to give you an explosive hello from the shotgun? The update includes modifications to the roadie run - maybe, just maybe, the update will tone this down a bit.
The update also includes the standard "general housekeeping", so various bug fixes can be expected as well. Gamers forum

Halo 3 or Gears of War
Sometimes the simplest game can be every bit as addictive and fun as monster games like Halo 3 or Gears of War. This is probably the reason why games like Pong still remain popular to this day and continue to inspire developers. While there are probably hundreds of versions of Pong-inspired games out there, one that will appeal to hardcore Pong fans and casual players alike is PONG! Multiplayer, a Firefox extension that allows you to indulge in Pong without leaving the comfort of your favorite browser.I still don't understad why when we get points in GW its not added to our total.dete49sog

Halo 3 bigger than Gears of War
Halo 3 is going to be bigger than Gears of War. There's no question about it. I know what the numbers are, and it's already clear that Halo 3 is going to be much bigger. That's no slight on Gears of War, that game is a mega-hit. It's a great new franchise for us and for Epic, and everyone should be proud of that. But Halo is in a world of its own, and like I said earlier, I do believe that comparing it to "Spider-Man 3" and to Harry Potter, from a consumer entertainment standpoint, is a fair comparison. That's a good set of analogues to use. That's not Gears of War just yet. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's just on another plane. In my opion Halo 3 will be huge two totally different types of games.
X-box live Gears of War

The amount of detail that was put into the characters and environments is something that will go down in gaming history. I was pleasantly surprised that with all of the amazing graphics and technical breakthroughs in “Gears of War” Epic Games still found time to give us hardcore gamers a feature that we so desperately seek. That’s right I’m talking about cooperative game play over X-box live. This feature allows you and a friend to play side by side, when you are actually miles apart. The fast paced action can also be enjoyed with friends at home on the same Xbox or system linking.
Gears achievements
The game has achievements for finishing each of the five acts on each of the three difficulties, and they stack, so if you beat an act on hardcore, you get the casual points, as well. It only seems to keep track of what difficulty setting you're on when you finish the act, so all this switching around won't cause any trouble on that front, either. The game's achievements are pretty good, with a smart mix of points you'll get for simply playing through the game and some more esoteric ones, like points for playing as Dom in co-op, points for perfectly reloading your weapon many times in a row, doing well online, and so on. None of the points seem that far fetched, but you also won't have the full thousand during your first couple of days with the game, either.
Gears of War Chainsaw
Chainsaw cuts through objects
The chainsaw on your Lancer has the ability to cut through many things if you get close to it and start it up. This includes doors, walls, and boxes.
Rapid fire Longshot, Boomshot, or Torque Bow
Shoot the Longshot, Boomshot, or Torque Bow. When the active reload bar gets to the broad area, press RB + B and immediately fire the weapon. If done correctly, you can keep shooting without reloading. This glitch does not do damage but can be a distraction.

Gears of War Tips
Infinite grenades in Multiplayer mode
This trick can be done on any online level. First, get either smoke or frag grenades. Take out your Lancer and do an Active Reload then immediately switch to your grenades and press B when switching. Then, press RB(5) or RB(10), depending on the game. Next, throw your grenade. The ammo counter should read zero but you should be acting as if you are holding a grenade. Note: You can only tag people and if you switch weapons you will exit the glitch.
Insane mode
Successfully complete Campaign mode on the Casual or Hardcore difficulty setting to unlock Insane difficulty setting.
Secret Gamerpics
Successfully complete Campaign mode on the Insane difficulty setting to unlock a secret Gamerpic, which has the Red Gear's Symbol behind Marcus.
Accomplish the "Seriously..." achievement by getting 10,000 total kills in versus ranked matches to unlock a secret Gamerpic.
Successfully complete any ranked versus mach to unlock a secret Gamerpic featuring Marcus running in the rain.
Hidden video
Turn on the game and wait for the "Gears Of War: Press Start" screen to appear. Do not press Start. Allow the screen to idle for a few of minutes, and a video will begin to play about Emergence Day.
Faster reload times
When you press RB to reload, there will be a clear bar with a small white segment somewhere along it. It will appear where your bullets used to be. There will also be a smaller white bar moving across the clear bar. As soon as the white bare gets inside the white segment, press RB again. This will reload your weapon much faster, and if timed just perfectly, will give your gun an extra boost in fire power. However, if you do not time it correctly, the clear bar will become red and it will take even longer to reload than if you had not attempted it.
About Face maneuver
This type of move is done when your character whips around 180 degrees quickly. To perform the move, hold Analog-stick Away to start walking backwards + A for a short time. Release A when your character turns around to perform it. To avoid frag grenades or retreat somewhere fast, keep holding A and Marcus will "roadie run" in the opposite direction.
Closing Emergence Holes
When an Emergence Hole opens up, toss a grenade into it. This will automatically close the hole, and therefore keep the locusts from coming out.
The Hammer Of Dawn can easily destroy Emergence Holes. You must activate it by targeting an enemy first, and then aim it toward the Emergence Hole.
Fire a Torque Bow arrow into an Emergence Hole. This is somewhat challenging to do, due to the straight line of fire given by the bow. However, if you are close enough to fire while the line of fire is arced, it is possible to make it into the hole. A Torque Arrow stuck in the top of the hole will close it as well.
When there is an Emergence Hole, take out your Lancer, go over the hole, and hold B. When you do this, every enemy that comes out of the hole will get chain-sawed.
